"This was an amazing conference that provided great information on patient–focused customer service, physician integration models, patient financial advocacy, social worker and survivorship strategies, and pharmacy risk management. I would strongly encourage conference attendance by all oncology practice professionals."

Mark Lopshire, Director, Mountain States Tumor Institute, St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Boise, Idaho

"The value of networking with colleagues performing similar work and differing functions in cancer care is unparalleled. No where else can I begin discussing an issue, such as how to reduce drug costs, and pull in doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and social workers, with varying levels of knowledge, unbiased opinions, and workable solutions. It's great!"

Becky DeKay, BS, MBA, Director of Oncology Services, LSU Health Shreveport, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, Shreveport, La.

Advocacy and Policy

CMI brings extensive knowledge of the healthcare arena, which is particularly critical during these times of healthcare reform. Over the years, CMI has facilitated meetings and interactions between client leadership and key staff at such organizations as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the National Cancer Institute, the Institute of Medicine, and specific congressional committees. CMI understands how national and state governments work…and we deliver for our clients.

Success story: In 2013, CMI staff organized a Capitol Hill Day for one association client in which more than 150 meetings were scheduled with elected officials and their staff. Thanks to these efforts, members educated their elected officials on key issues impacting community cancer care, including oral parity legislation; the impacts of cuts to Medicare reimbursement on patient access to care; and the importance of treating the whole patient, including the need for chemotherapy teaching codes, palliative care codes and navigation services. The client members have become a respected source of information for their elected officials.

Membership Recruitment, Retention, and Management

CMI helps clients meet or exceed their membership goals through membership recruitment campaigns that begin with market research and follow with comprehensive, customized solutions to achieving growth. Membership retention is the key to successful membership development. This process begins the moment a member joins. New member mailings and emails immediately connect the member to the client organization and make a measurable difference when it comes time for the decision to renew. In addition to extensive experience with membership recruitment and retention, staff has a proven track record in membership management. The CMI team is experienced in updating client membership rosters in real–time through a web–based database system, as well as keeping rosters easily accessible online.

Success story: CMI clients have membership retention rates as high as 96 percent, as a result of sustained outreach that includes personal telephone calls.

Communications and Website Management

CMI staff brings innovation and polish to association web and electronic communications—from outstanding website design to association blogs and e-newsletters. CMI staff includes skilled website designers and healthcare content specialists, with experience in administering a comprehensive communication network that allows members to share information. CMI staff understands trends in social media. Through blogs, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter, CMI helps associations establish and strengthen trusting relationships with members.

Success story: CMI staff won "Medicine on the Net" magazine's prestigious award for "Best Medical Association Website" for one of our clients.

Publications

Drawing on an extensive background in healthcare, CMI editors and writers are experienced in writing, editing, and producing timely and practical journals, magazines, newsletters, and supplements, on a full range of topics. For one client, staff has authored articles on new approaches to delivery of state–of–the–art treatments, new technologies acquisition, hospital staffing issues, and much more. In addition, CMI staff members are accomplished at analyzing publication needs and growth opportunities, then introducing strategic, practical, and creative solutions that improve competitive performance while increasing revenues and profits.

Success story: Staff developed and published a guide to reimbursement and patient assistance programs, helping member organizations to save many thousands of dollars. In addition, CMI staff conducted a membership salary and position survey of cancer program administrators, interpreted data, and published results online and within a journal. As one member stated, "Thanks to the survey, I was able to compare my salary against the average and secure a pay raise"
